Origins in Divinity: Original Sin 2 give the player unique Tags, appearance and in one case a Talent. They are essentially the equivalent of premade characters. Players can also choose Custom if they wish to have more flexibility in their Character Creation, but there are unique opportunities only available to the premade Origins.

When playing through Divinity Original Sin 2, I played with a group of three others, three of us were Origin characters and one of us was custom. The one custom character had almost no focus or story inclusion throughout the game other than contributing to our stories which were dynamic and extremely enjoyable. Custom character - more personal immersion, and you’ll be able to see the origin characters personalities a little more, from a third person point of view. Origin - you get a little more story on the specific character you pick (but you can get that same story by doing the origin characters personal quest). Origin Skills in Divinity: Original Sin 2 are the sum of all the abilties players will have access to by picking an Origins. Each Origin Skill will be acquired at Character Creation, with some exceptions.
